CEASELESS

A series of charcoal and graphite drawings

dedicated to grieving and healing the continuous cycle of life through nature.

INTRODUCTION:

This piece truly is the drawing that started everything.

I had just recently lost my uncle to a sudden heart attack and the grief that I felt following the announcement of his death hit me harder than almost anything.

I had never experienced death in my life, let alone a sudden death. He and I were texting back and forth the night he passed.

I couldn't do anything to console myself besides drawing. I sketched out a Blue Heron, my favorite bird & something about this piece rooted me. It's now my logo and one of three pieces that I will hold onto until the day I die.

BEVERLY
Charcoal & Graphite on paper.
14" x 11"

INTRODUCTION:

Named after my grandmother who recently passed away.

When I would stay at her house while my mom worked double shifts, she often fed the stray cats that lived under an abandoned garage right next to her side-door patio.

After the cats and kittens would leave, Possums would show up in the middle of the night to eat the leftover cat food. She would wake me up from this thing I was sleeping on that we called a "flip-Flop" and bring me to the screen door to see them.

Possums were magical creatures for her and I and the rest of my family now believe so too.

Original drawing available for purchase.

INTRODUCTION:

I often found baby white-tailed rabbits in my parent's backyard, It was my job to search for them before my dad would mow the grass. The mother would create a nest underground in the middle of the yard and cover it with the fluff from her own body while she was away to keep them warm and safe.

I loved that they were so close together, a group of siblings in their most vulnerable state.

I covered them with the Gemini Constellation, a constellation, that when connected looks like twins holding hands.

INTRODUCTION:

This is one of the enormous drawings I've completed measuring 5ft tall and 4ft wide. It's purposefully visually walking the line between rest and resting in peace.

I AM YOU signifies the circle of life, relating to a saying found on gravestones "As I am now, so must you be."

You can find the title of the drawing hidden on one of the front hoofs.
